The Mind Academy
The Mind Academy has trained hypnotherapists, NLP practitioners and coaches since 2004. Founded and led by Alistair Horscroft, the Academy exists to produce practitioners who can do the work — not simply describe it — and every student is assessed working with real people, under supervision, before they graduate.
Our approach integrates hypnotherapy, NLP, professional coaching and evidence-based psychology into a single working method rather than teaching them as separate disciplines. In practice, coaching brings conscious clarity and direction, NLP reveals the structure of a pattern, and hypnosis works with the subconscious where habits, anxiety, confidence and identity actually sit. Students learn how to choose between them and combine them for the person in front of them.
Training is delivered live and in person in small cohorts, in Noosa, on the Gold Coast and in Sydney, followed by six months of live group mentoring with Alistair as graduates begin seeing clients. Graduates hold membership eligibility with the profession's accrediting bodies, professional insurance eligibility and a health-fund rebate pathway for their clients.
Our Google reviews from working practitioners currently stand at 100% five-star.
TMA Professional Hypnotherapy Diploma — awarded within The Mind Dynamics Program
1000 hours, comprising:
• 150 hours of live trainer-led delivery — the 11-day in-person intensive (Mon–Sat, Sunday off, Mon–Fri) plus six months of live group coaching and supervision by Zoom

• Online modules, filmed technique library, research papers and interactive online delivery
• Written dissertation, twelve supervised case studies, logged practicum and assessed client hours
The Mind Dynamics Program is the most comprehensive integrated practitioner training of its kind — 1,000 hours across hypnotherapy, NLP and professional coaching, built entirely around real-world practical application. It has run since 2004 and has produced some of the most successful practising graduates in Australia and internationally.
The program is built on a simple position: a practitioner is only as good as what they can do with the person sitting in front of them. Students are assessed on theory, and then on their ability to apply it. From the first training day they work with real people under supervision — guiding a genuine hypnotic induction on day one, resolving a phobia by day three, and running complete sessions start to finish by day eleven.
Central to the training is our 'go there first' teaching principle. Every student personally experiences each of the major processes on themselves before using them with a client. They do not take our word for whether a technique works — they know it does, because it worked on them. That first-hand experience is what allows a graduate to sit with a client in genuine confidence rather than delivering a procedure they have only read about.
Three disciplines are taught as one working method rather than as separate subjects. Coaching establishes what the client actually wants and the plan to get there. NLP reveals the structure of the pattern holding them back. Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious, where those patterns are held and updated. Students learn to see the structure behind a presentation and choose the right approach for the individual.
The curriculum spans twelve areas of study: foundations of human behaviour; communication and rapport; representational systems; foundations of hypnosis; hypnotic induction; hypnotherapy applications; timeline and memory processing; language and cognitive change; psychological foundations; NLP change methodologies; coaching methodology; and advanced skills and integration. Week two covers hypno-analysis and timeline work, recognising trauma and working within scope, addictive behaviour, and identity-level change.
Graduates leave able to work across anxiety, trauma, confidence, relationships, habits, performance and life direction, and hold seven credentials, including the TMA Professional Hypnotherapy Diploma. Six months of live group coaching follows the intensive, alongside the Rapid Business Builder Course — because building a practice is part of the training, not an afterthought.
Alistair Horscroft — Founder and Lead Trainer
Alistair Horscroft is a pioneer of rapid, integrated therapy and coaching, and the creator of Mind Dynamics and The Hummingbird Method. He was trained and certified by many of the original figures in hypnotherapy, NLP and coaching, and holds a BA (Hons) in Philosophy of Mind.
He has delivered more than 10,000 client sessions across 25 years, working with Olympians, world champions, leading CEOs and thousands of everyday clients, and has trained psychologists, therapists and coaches throughout Australia and internationally. He was the first hypnotherapist to front a Discovery Channel series, resolving long-standing issues on camera, and ran a six-year phobia resolution program with Taronga Zoo. His TEDx talk has been viewed over 1.4 million times.
Alistair has taught the 11-day live format for fifteen years and personally leads every intake and every mentoring session. He is the author of Real Change: The Art and Science of Therapy, Coaching and Personal Development.
The Hummingbird Method Practitioner Certification
A two-day certification intensive in The Hummingbird Method, Alistair Horscroft's proprietary approach to working with subconscious narratives. Rather than treating a presenting problem directly, the method works with the symbolic structure the subconscious uses to hold it, allowing change to happen at the level where the pattern is organised. The certification is delivered live online across one weekend, with no travel required, and is open to practitioners already working in hypnotherapy, NLP, coaching or an allied field. It is introduced within the Mind Dynamics Program and taught in full as a standalone certification.
TMA Resolve Anxiety Practitioner
Anxiety is the most common presentation in private practice. This certification trains practitioners to deliver a complete, repeatable program for it — from first session through to resolution — rather than applying isolated techniques and hoping they hold. The training covers assessment, the structure of anxious patterning, subconscious and conscious-level interventions, client self-regulation between sessions, and how to run the work as a defined program rather than open-ended sessions. Included within the Mind Dynamics Program and available separately to qualified practitioners.
TMA Heart Dynamics Coherence Coach
Certification in Heart Dynamics, The Mind Academy's own HRV biofeedback system. A sensor and app read the client's nervous system live and train them into measurable coherence, so practitioners can show emotional regulation happening in real time rather than describing it. Used with clients for stress, anxiety and peak performance, and as a practice the client continues between sessions. Certification includes the practitioner sensor kit and twelve months of platform access.
