AHA Ongoing Membership Requirements

Membership of the AHA is conditional upon agreement to adhere to the regulations laid down in the AHA Articles of Association and the AHA Code of Ethics.

Levels of membership and their requirements and obligations:
  • Fellow Member

Fellowship is offered to a Clinical Member who in the unanimous decision of the Executive has provided outstanding service to the Association, and without limiting the generality thereof, has advanced the knowledge of hypnotherapy or one of its fields, or made substantial and original contributions to the advancement of hypnotherapy or one of its fields.
 

  • Clinical Member

      Shall:

  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate
  • Hold Malpractice Insurance
  • Undertake Continuing Professional Development
  • Undertake ongoing Clinical Supervision and / or Peer Support / Supervision

A Clinical Member is entitled to use the acronyms of the Association and such abbreviated form or emblem as may be approved from time to time by the Executive, in additional to other benefits and entitlements pertaining to Clinical Membership. Clinical  Members will receive a yearly Certificate from the Association.

  • Associate Member

      Shall:

  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate

  • Hold Malpractice Insurance

  • Undertake ongoing Professional Development

  • Undertake ongoing Clinical Supervision

 Associate Membership is for those people who have successfully completed an approved course in hypnosis and it's therapeutic application or have satisfied the Executive of their competence in the theory and practice of hypnosis by examination but who do not yet possess the necessary qualifications required for Clinical Membership.  Associate Members will receive a yearly Certificate from the Association.

  • Student Member

Student Membership is for those people who are undertaking some training in hypnosis or its related fields.  A Student Member may not publicly claim membership of the AHA. Student Members will receive a yearly Certificate from the Association.

  • Affiliate Member

Affiliate Membership is for those persons with an interest in hypnosis. Affiliate Members may not publicly claim membership of the AHA.

  • Overseas Affiliate Member

Overseas Affiliate Membership is available to members of associations affiliated with the AHA. Overseas Affiliate Members will receive a yearly Certificate from the Association. Persons wishing to apply for Overseas Affiliate Membership should contact the Membership Secretary for further information and an application form.

 
Members please note:
  • Insurance companies insist that they will only cover Hypnotherapists who are financial members of an approved Association; insurance may be null and void if you become unfinancial.

  • If you choose to take up the option of advertising in the 2008 Yellow Pages under the AHA logo your payment need to be forwarded by the July 15th 2007.

  • For inclusion on the Health Funds Rebates Lists you must be a financial member. Meaning your fees must be forwarded to the Treasurer by 1st March 2007.

  • Unfinancial members as at the 31 March 2007 will be removed from the AHA FREE website listing and/or the database referral lists.

  • All Members are required to supply the “2006 Record of Ongoing Professional Development and Supervision” along with their renewal form.
